June: The Month of Beach Trips and Moving!

We kicked off the summer with a big move and a couple of beach trips!  Here are the highlights of the month of June, if there is a hyperlink, click on it for more fun details :)

1. Spent a fun day with the Riggs, filled with packing up our apartment and going to Stone Mountain.  Click here for more pictures :)

2.  Went to Flagler Beach with my family and I turned 27 (click here for more pictures of the trip and a super cute 2 year old!)

3. On the way back from Flagler Beach, we stopped in Albany for Chris and Casey's "Party Party" to celebrate their marriage!

4. A few days later we closed on our first house and moved in! (click here for more fun pictures of our moving day)

5. Went to Mexico Beach with Kevin's family the next day!  (click here for more pictures of beach fun with the Riggs)

6. Attended Taylor's Summer Solstice party.  His homemade brews were great and he has an awesome view from his high rise in Dunwoody (or I should say had an awesome view, he has since moved to Boston!).

7. Survived a serious heat wave!

8. Enjoyed a night a Smith's Olde Bar watching my Phi Mu sister's, Molly Stevens', band Stevens Layne perform an amazing set!  Molly kept us entertained with her voice throughout college and it was great to hear her familiar voice again!  Here's to Stevens Layne "making it big"!

9.  Used our limited free time getting settled into our house!

The moment Kevin really felt like a homeowner :)

At first Floyd was a little skiddish, hiding in closets for darkness because he was used to our "cave" apartment - we also didn't know what to think the first morning we woke up and there was light shining in from everywhere!  But it didn't take Floyd long to settle in.  He sprawls out everywhere now and enjoys running from room to room!
Floyd enjoyed practicing his acrobatic skills while boxes were all over the house
Floyd went through great lengths to get glimpses of us enjoying the back porch.  Lucky for him he now gets to go out there with us :)

We've enjoyed Alpine Bakery a little too much since we've moved  here :)

And that about sums it up!  What a great month!

Beach with Kevin's Family

The morning after our big move, we got up early and headed down to Mexico Beach to spend a few days at beach with Kevin's family!  It was really nice to be able to relax on the beach for a few days after moving.

This was my first beach trip with Kevin's family and it was a lot of fun!  They are much more active beachers than my family so it was fun to have a different experience.  I can definitely say where Kevin gets his funny ramblings, curiosity, and zeal for exploration - being around three Riggs boys is quite entertaining!  But even with bocce ball, fishing, walking/running to the jetty, and exploring the cape, there was still plenty of time for some reading and relaxing with Kevin's mom and grandmother :)  And we had great weather!  I really enjoyed spending time with his parents and brother and grandmother who is so sweet and just a hoot!

The boys...

...and the girls :)

Love her!

Good thing they came back when they did!

We drove down to Cape San Blas one day

Deer we saw when leaving Cape San Blas

Kevin and I ate here last summer and had to go back, so good!

Enjoyed a nice sunset while eating at Beach Pizza

Morning fishing on the pier

Literally running to catch the sunset on our last night there!

Made it, just in time!

I'm always sad to leave the beach, but it wasn't too hard to leave this time because we were excited to get back to our new home!

The Big Move!

Moving was such an exciting time!  A little bit stressful, but thanks to our family and friends being so great it was mostly exciting.  My mom and grandparents literally scrubbed every inch of our house before we moved in (it was so great to move into a CLEAN home!), my mother-in-law came up again to help us finish the last of our packing (so thankful!), and our awesome dads, brother Keith, and friends Colin, Zack, and Tom helped us move!  I just felt so much gratitude during that memorable week of our lives!

We closed on Wednesday, June 13th.  Afterwards we celebrated by taking a walk through OUR house and praying over the time to be spent there and memories to be made, having a toast on OUR back porch, and then going to Ruth's Chris for a celebratory dinner!  Kevin won a gift certificate for there when he won a poker tournament a few months back, and we knew this would be the perfect night to use it!  Mom got emotional when I called her after we closed and said to get a bottle of wine on them :)  It was a great celebration, and a delicious dinner!!

Cheers!

Beginning the move the Saturday following our closing!

Mom insisted on this shot...ha!

Kevin's mom brought a ham for sandwiches, chips, and homemade chocolate cake for everyone who helped with the move!

Good thing I insisted on getting the bigger truck :)

Working hard!

Exactly what I wanted our back porch to be used for...relaxing with good friends!

After the move, Amanda and Craig came by to see the house, and Josh, Brianna, Isaac, Maggie came over to grill out with Kevin, Keith and me!  Colin surprised us by generously giving us his grill so it was awesome to be able to grill out our first night there!

IZ Cat enjoying the grassy back yard!

Awesome birthday gift from Maggie!  We love our lime tree!
Later on Keith, Maggie, Kevin, and I checked out a bar/restaurant about a mile from our house, Olde Blind Dog, and then when we came home we felt inspired to take goofy stair pictures, ha!

What a fun day!  Then, the next day we got up and left for the beach with Kevin's family, whew!
