Our church held regular Sunday services on Christmas Eve
this year so we woke up early Saturday morning and headed up to Buckhead (from Newnan) to
serve in Waumba Land and go to church.
Well we didn’t wake up early enough because we were running a little
late and traveling a little too fast = speeding ticket of 81 in a 65 on
CHRISTMAS EVE! (Kevin driving) L We didn’t let it get us down too much and
having a birthday party for Jesus with 4 year olds made us almost forget it even happened.
We had a crowd with us at church that day! Both mine and Kevin’s parents came, as well
as Keith (Kevin’s brother), Maggie, Ronnie, and Ronnie’s mom and sister. It was an awesome service and a great Christmas
Eve morning.
After church Kevin and I went to my parents’ house and ate
the shrimp and grits my mom had made, yum!
Then we went out and finished some Christmas shopping – dreaded going
that last minute but it was a successful trip and we were able to get to
Kevin’s grandmother’s house around 4:30.
Kevin’s grandmother (Maw Maw) and her brothers and sisters
have been rotating houses to hold a Christmas Eve get-together for 49
years. It was at Maw Maw’s house this
year and it was a fun time seeing extended family, eating great food, and
playing the annual White Elephant party with creative gag gifts!
